How to Make an Easy Sugar Scrub

Spring is here, but he air is still super dry. So dry in fact, that my hands hurt. I can’t even imagine putting on some shorts, my poor legs are so dry and ashy! And we won’t even talk about my feet. But flip flop season finally is almost here! I love sugar scrubs to remedy this because they not only exfoliate, they moisturize too.

My daughter LOVES making beauty products. She has made moisturizers, lip balms, lip scrubs, bath bombs, and was the one who introduced me to making sugar scrubs. It amazed me how incredibly simple they are to make. What’s really crazy is that they sell them in stores for $10-20  or more for little containers of them!

As it turns out, all it takes is literally oil and sugar. We usually use coconut oil, but you can use avocado oil, olive oil…any quality oil that’s good for your skin. You’ll need to mix up 1 part oil with 2 parts oil and mix well. I like to add some essential oils for fragrance, too. A finer sugar is better to use than something like sugar in the raw with its large crystals.

Once you make it, you can use it in the shower or bath. Just scrub any affected areas until the sugar dissolves, and rinse lightly. You’ll come out looking and feeling great! This also makes a great gift. You can make a larger batch, put in cute little jars, and use for family and friends, teacher gifts, etc.

Sugar Scrub Recipe

1/2 cup coconut oil

1 cup sugar

Several drops essential oil of choice

Mix all the ingredients together and use. Easy peasy!

We really all love using these scrubs, and making them in different scents. Even my 9 year old makes them all by herself for herself and her friends.
